All of our babies are fed when hungry---not on a schedule. In other words, they are weaned according to their schedule and not ours. We have found that this makes for a more confident and loving companion.
Our babies are fledged at the same time this period would naturally occur in the wild. The latest avian
research supports this fledging period. During this time, the babies must exhibit the skills necessary to competently take off, land on intended target, turn and judge distances. The time required to learn these important skills varies with each species.
Just as we learned to crawl/walk, a baby bird must learn how to fly. This completes their brain development.
Once the fledging period is complete, the babies wings are gently and gradually trimmed to an appropriate length over a two week period.
Babies in the nursery are introduced to a variety of toys, sights, sounds, people, climbing activities and counter activities at appropriate times in their development. All of the babies are introduced and weaned to a huge variety of fruits and vegetables, pellets, organic sprouted grains, legumes, beans, corn and seed.
